GTA 5 Slow Loading Time Complaints Grow As Game Ages

It has been months since GTA 5 got released and like any other game, it is starting to age. Fans who have received the game since day one should realize that loading times are slower now than how it was when they first started playing.

There is a way to reduce this aging effect from the game. If you’re running on the Xbox 360, it is best for you to reinstall the game or transfer the installed game on a separate flash disk. It appears that a 16GB thumbdrive is more than enough to support the installation files.

Just by doing this, loading time improves tremendously. Switching characters in the game doesn’t take more than 3 seconds and data gets rendered smoothly. This means that there won’t be any invisible trees and cars don’t appear out of nowhere.

On a closer look, the lag is caused by the cache. GTA 5 consumes a lot of cache space and it is best for it to be done on the HDD while the game runs on a separate drive. This is the same case for the PS3. While it is unknown if the PS3 can support games stored on the flash disk, you can still improve loading time just by clearing the cache on your HDD.

Toggle the On/Off button on your PS3 in a way that it loads up the “DOS” of your console. There will be a tab that allows you to clear the cache. Simply select it and you should be able to see the improvement when playing GTA 5.
