A hands free search feature is coming in the next few days to Google Chrome beta, which means that you can search Google with the Chrome browser with just your voice. This is thanks to the fact that the latest version of Chrome will offer the option for those using Linux, Windows and Mac.
Typically when searching Google the user types into the box what they are searching for. When using search on a mobile however, the user can speak.
Since the discontinuation of Goog-411 in 2007, Google have been paying a lot of attention in voice recognition and in 2011 they brought voice queries to desktops thanks to Chrome. In 2012 enhancements were made on both voice searches for the desktop and mobile.
Users can just say “Ok Google” and then speak the query they want to search for, or perform actions and set reminders and timers.
To enable the feature just click on the microphone icon and it will tell you when Google is listening to you.
Chrome beta offers updated user features as those with admin access can go to sites that are accessible by those being supervised. Parents are able to block and manage which websites their children visit.
Google activated the hands free voice search for the Chrome beta for desktops on Thursday.
