Mojang plan on offering different types of changes in this week’s preview of the Minecraft 1.8 update and the snapshot 14w11a is the thing for anyone who is hanging on to see more focus on the games survival mechanics.
If you don’t play Minecraft on the public server then the recent previews of the Minecraft 1.8 update will not have been very exciting. Thankfully this will change with the Minecraft snapshot 14w11a update as it comes with many game changes that aim to tweak the survival experience.
One of the most interesting additions will be the Endermite, this is a new bug like mob that will make an occasional appearance after an Enderman teleports to a new location. The programmer of Minecraft said that they can be found in other places but he didn’t go into detail. The creatures look a lot like silverfish and Endermen will be hostile towards the Endermites. Another snapshot includes tweaks to the AI mob.
The latest of the previews of the Minecraft 1.8 update include the first steps of a change that is going to see the blocks start using internal blocks instead of the metadata that Builders are using at the moment to govern how certain blocks behave. The dev team said that metadata would remain the primary method of governing the behaviour of blocks for a while but the first blocks of the new system could be found in the Minecraft snapshot 14w11a.
The team said that the update would arrive at some point on Thursday; however fans should not expect any other builds of Minecraft to come out for several days. Many of the employees of Mojang will be taking a trip to the 2014 Game Developers Conference. So it is looking as though the trip could force a delay for the preview of the Minecraft updata.
