HTC One owners are set to get the KitKat 4.4.2 update with its cloud printing and security enhancements. This is all good, but what about the camera and its purple tinge?
Is that about to be fixed as well?
Canadian HTC One and HTC One Mini owners can get the update from Telus, Bell, Virgin, Wind, SaskTel and Rogers. These carriers are working on the firmware and will be getting it out to the phones as soon as they can.
Over the border in the US, the HTC One is about to get KK 4.4.2 OTA from AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. The international HTC One Sense is getting the update in Europe, which backs up reports of the update in the US.
HTC One X owners will be getting their last bump-up to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 – this news comes after an HTC exec confirmed the update for AT&T. This update will come out around the same time as the HTC One 4.4.2 update.
Some features will depend on the network, but some will be available across the board, like Sense 5.5, cloud printing, security beefing, new Bluetooth profiles, flash support removal, UI changes and BlinkFeed updates.
A big issue with users has been the purple, red or blue tinges on the camera app – low light pics have red or purple tints. Jelly Bean 4.3 came out to try and fix this problem, but owners say it’s still dogging them. LlabTooFer tweeted and posted a pic of the Android 4.2.2 change log – showing no sign of the purple problem.
Android and Me said that one owner asked if this would be sorted with KK 4.4.2, but yet another user said that the colours weren’t related to software. Apparently it’s a hardware issue, and the entire camera module needs to be replaced (for free) at an HTC centre.
Users themselves can change the saturation and contract in the camera app to lessen the problem.
