Fans were left frustrated after Subaru showcased their latest WRX and WRX STI as it did not resemble anything that the Subaru WRX concept which had been shown at the production unit had led them to believe it would look like. Despite this, a Nissan insider claims that there is some good news as the WRX concept looks a lot like the next Impreza and XV Crosstrek will look like.
Mamoru Ishii, the Subaru Chief, spoke to Auto Express and stated that they have “taken the next-generation Impreza’s design in a new direction that we are sure will excite the marketplace.” He went on the say that “We are planning to give the lower section below the hip line a wider, more substantial stance and narrow up the roof section.” This is something that was included in the WRX concept.
The new Impreza is also going to be amongst the first to receive Subaru’s new modular chassis architecture.
It has been predicted that the Subaru Impreza will be on the market in 2016.
