Fingerprint Sensor is a must-have feature in most od the smartphones these days and while most smartphone manufacturer seems to be fine with having a visible fingerprint sensor, the guys over at Xiaomi is looking to hide it in their display.
A new image seen on Weibo seems to suggest that the new fingerprint sensor on the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 could be embedded into the display screen. The photo revealed a new “underglass” fingerprint reader that is based on the Snapdragon Sense ID.
The tech from Snapdragon will allow the scanner to read your fingerprint through metal, plastic or glass. It is also believed that the device will be fitted with a Snapdragon 821 chip with 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage and will be equipped with a 16MP rear camera and a 3490mAh battery pack.
We do not know when Xiaomi plans to release the new Mi 5 but it will be interesting to see what they have in store for us.
