Apple might have released the iPhone 6 but that does not mean that the iPhone 5S is not great at all. The smartphone from last year is certainly a splendid device and now, it is also more affordable to own. Then again, the same can be said for the China smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 4. Between the two, which is better?
The first major difference between both devices is their operating system. The iPhone 5S runs on the latest iOS 8.1 out of the box. Like most other iOS before this, the firmware 8.1 offers unrivalled hardware-system integration. The Mi 4, on the other hand, runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.
Specs-wise, the iPhone 5S runs on the Apple A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz and accompanied by 2GB of RAM. The Mi 4 is faster as it is powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM. Also, the iPhone 5S comes with 16/32GB of fixed memory. This is where the Mi 4 excels since it has microSD support of up to 64GB.
In terms of display, the iPhone 5S sports a 4” screen that runs at 326ppi. Meanwhile, the Mi 4 has a 5” screen that offers 441ppi. Also, the iPhone 5S is equipped with an 8MP rear and 1.5MP front camera. The Mi 4 has more to offer as it comes with a sharper 13MP rear and 8MP front camera.
Judging from the specs above, there is no doubt that the Mi 4 is better than the iPhone 5S. Furthermore, the former is also cheaper than the latter. The Mi 4 retails at $459 while the iPhone 5S retails at $650 without contract.
