The launch of the latest Mustang took place towards the end of 2013 and then went onto the markets the next year. A report found on Automotive News Europe claim that work on a 2018 Ford Mustang facelift is already in progress though. Not a lot of information about the updates have been revealed, but we know they will be minor as the changes will be kept for an all-new submission.
It has been said that one of the updates will include the current aggressive appearance of the face being replaced by a brand new fascia. The changed we will see won’t be huge though, we can expect to see some small tweaks to make things a bit more modern maybe.
Apart from that, it has been claimed that the 2018 model year Mustang will use Ford’s new 10-speed gearbox, seen on the new F-150 Raptor, to replace its six-speed transmission. The 5.0 Coyote V8 and the 2.3 litre Ecoboost turbo will probably be kept so if this new pairing does happen then we can expect to see an improved performance and better fuel efficiency.
Sources claim that there is also planse for a performance option, with these to include a Ford Mustang Mach 1 edition for the facelift. The most recent Mach 1 performance package included an upturned 4.6 litre V8 engine and was seen in the last-generation Mustang.
