There is a bug on WhatsApp and if exploited, users will be able to see another user’s private photos. The procedure is simple and it requires the user to open up a random WhatsApp profile before checking out the pictures.
To be precise, it seems that every WhatsApp user has been viewing and accessing private photos from another account. This was the case until yesterday when 17-year old security researcher, Indrajeet Bhuyan shattered the glass on the matter.
The lad discovered that private photos can be access openly and there is no actual programming that segregates them from the public photos. In addition to that, deleted photos can still be viewed on WhatsApp Web application whereas on the mobile, the photos are blurred out.
This is really worrying as users never thought that WhatsApp is insecure. Of course, it is also frustrating for the users that rely on private photos. On the upside of things, WhatsApp developers have acknowledged the issue and they will be looking to push out a security update shortly.
