The recent Beijing Auto Show played host to many interesting concepts and one of them is the Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe Concept. The four-door vehicle will be a smaller and cheaper alternative to the Volkswagen CC.
VW revealed that the NMC study will compete in a new segment of compact sedans and will be in direct competition with the Mercedes CLA. Due for production in 2016, the vehicle will also come with VW’s new architecture.
Then again, the German carmaker has to be careful in plotting the price and market for the VW NMC. After all, they already have the Audi A3 in their fleet and wouldn’t want another vehicle of their own to rival the great compact sedan.
In short, the NMC looks like the Volkswagen Passat but with a wider hip size. There is the typical VW styling present like crisp line, horizontal detailing and extensive surfacing. Aside from that, the study sports heavily curved roofline, frameless doors and notchback-style rear.
