Volkswagen To Challenge Nissan Juke With New Study!

The success of the Nissan Juke and MINI Countryman has forced Volkswagen to step into the realm of compact crossovers to challenge these vehicles. The German carmaker had just unveiled a brand new concept called the T-Roc and it sure looks beautiful.

Measuring at 4,179 mm long, 1,831 mm wide and 1,501 mm tall, the T-Roc is perfectly sized to go head-to-head with market dominator, Nissan Juke. However, it doesn’t come with a five-door body and instead has three-doors that can accommodate up to four passengers at one time.

The design is taken from the targa-top where the middle section of the roof consists of two halves that with just a few flicks can be taken off and stowed in the boot. Also, the T-Roc will surely be built on VW’s MQB platform as it looks to weigh at only 1,420kg.

Under the hood, the Concept is powered by the 181hp (184PS) and 380Nm 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that is mated to a 7-speed twin-clutch DSG transmission. This is accompanied by the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with Haldex coupling.

With such a powertrain, the T-Roc should be able to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 6.9 seconds. The speed will be capped at 210km/h as the vehicle returns 4.9 l/100 km.

VW concluded by revealing that the T-Roc will come with three different trims. They are ‘Street’, ‘Off-road’ and ‘Snow’. Each of them comes with their own specific features like Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.
