Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 Has Its Own Exclusive Features

Mobile phones security has always been questioned over the past few years and it seems that Apple is the only phone manufacturer that prioritizes the safety and security of its devices. Now, Samsung looks to follow this same trait.

The Korean company recently announced that both the Verizon and US Cellular version of the Galaxy S5 will come with multiple security features. They are known as “Find My Mobile” and “Reactivation Lock”.

The name might have hit your tickle bone as it resembles the “Find My iPhone” and “Activation Lock” from Apple. As a matter of fact, it is a renamed, carbon copy of the same features.

Find My Mobile in particular allows users to remotely track their lost Galaxy S5. They will also get to identify if an unknown SIM card is inserted.

Then there is Activation Lock which prevents unknown users to wipe/reset the lost Galaxy S5 without keying a password.

Original or not, such a thing should be a common practice for all the phone vendors. In a way, it is good that Apple is leading as an example in security.

At the moment, the feature is restricted to both Verizon and US Cellular. It is unknown if other telcos will jump in the security train as well.
