The biggest surprise of this year in the world of smartphone is with Verizon after the carrier suddenly started selling the Nexus 5 some months ago. This is due to the fact that Verizon and Google couldn’t see eye-to-eye on things.
It gets more intriguing as the Nexus 5 was picked up by Verizon months after it was released. It is as if Verizon knew something we don’t. After some careful digging, we came up with two possibilities on why Verizon is selling the Nexus 5.
It could be that the Verizon has finally realized the impact of a Nexus smartphone on the market or a possible delay with the Nexus 6 production. If it is the latter, there are rumours claiming that the Nexus 6 will be released only in autumn next year. Other rumours teased that there won’t be a Nexus 6 coming at all.
The rumours indicated that Google has yet to decide on the company that will sit at the helm of production. While LG remains the biggest favourite, there are other companies like Motorola, Lenovo and Asus that are also hoping for a slice of the pie.
As for Verizon, they will surely bag as much profit as possible on the Nexus 5 if a delay with the Nexus 6 is to occur. After all, the Big Red is super late in offering the smartphone.
