Buying a smartphone from a carrier comes at the cost of getting a locked device. This means that you won’t be able to use another SIM card from a different carrier as and when you want to. This is disappointing since you can’t do as you please with the device you own.
Well, there is a simple way to get your device unlocked and this will grant you full control and ownership of it. Instead of relying on third party services and pay a bloated fee to get it done, you can save a lot of cash from acting on your own.
For starters, you will require your mobile phone number, contract account number, phone manufacturer, phone model and IMEI number. Jot the details down on a piece of paper and head over to your carrier.
For 02, all you have to do is present your account to an officer and make request for unlock. If you are on a price plan, the unlocking will be free of charge but if you are on the pay as you go service, then there is a one-time fee of £15. Then again, there is a 10 days’ wait to get your device unlocked.
For Vodafone, there is a fee of £19.99 to get your phones unlocked. Of course, the fee is only applicable if you are on pay as you go or of if your contract price plan is less than a year old. Also, you will need to commit at least three months subscriptions before you can unlock your device.
Finally, we have Virgin Mobile. This is the only carrier that does not lock the device but for those on contracts only. If you happen to find your device locked on Virgin, then you can simply request for the unlocking which comes with a single fee of £15.32. Also, the process takes 30 calendar days.
