It is no secret that both Toyota and Tesla are teaming up to create an exclusive vehicle but nobody has a clue on what sort of wheels it will be. That is until yesterday when Toyota announced on a new commercial van concept which is something the world truly needs.
Known as the U2 Urban Utility concept, the van is able to blend urban lifestyle with a connection to nature and appreciation for craftsmanship. The van became the centre of attention almost immediately after it got unveiled at the World Maker Faire in New York City.
The U2’s design is what intrigued the masses most. It is crafted with so many innovations that will make it easier to transport goods. For starters, the roof can be rolled back to accommodate taller loads. Also, the whole rear can be folded down as a ramp to bring in the goods easily.
As for the exterior design, the U2 is simple and looks super friendly. Perhaps, this is owed to the collaboration with Tesla. After all, the latter has been producing many great vehicles with a soft look.
Inside the cockpit, it is a totally different realm. There is a mixture of weird, organic shapes with an undulating steering wheel, oval speedometer and iPad. The positioning and shapes are really weird. The centre console looks like the top of a bike popping out of the van and the armrest are like a seat.
While there is no further detail revealed on the U2 concept, we can’t wait to learn more about the vehicle when it starts participating in major motor shows.
