It is always wise to savour the memories of the past and look forward into the future. Clinging on the olden times will only fluctuates progress and hinder development. Well, this isn’t the case for Toyota as they look to feed on the success of the Land Cruiser 70.
It has been 30 years since the first Land Cruiser got produced and the 70 will be a limited edition model to celebrate its success in the 4×4 market. Toyota is aiming for 200 orders for the Land Cruiser 70 in each month as the vehicle goes on sale today.
The Land Cruiser 70 will come in two variants. One is a 4-door van while the other is a double-cab pickup truck. Both vehicles will come with ladder-frame construction to offer the classic sturdy feel and they will be powered by a 4.0-liter V6 petrol engine and part-time four-wheel drive.
In detail, the engine has an aluminium block and VVT-i technology, producing 231 PS (228 hp) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque. The Land Cruiser 70 will be operated via a 5-speed manual transmission and is able to achieve 6.6 km/l.
While the design may look classy, the Land Cruiser 70 is not short of hi-tech features. The front end of the off-roader features an updated grille and hood, while the modern headlights incorporate turn indicators. Also, the vehicle comes with safety features like airbags and ABS.
