Many makers of phones have told us about making the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for their handsets but up to now Sony have remained quiet about it. Now though they have begun to talk and it is looking as though the Sony Xperia Z3 along with the Z2 are going to get the update.
We know this as details have come from the WiFi Alliance that says Android 5.0 Lollipop is making its way to the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Z2. Certification for the devices happened on 15 February and the update could arrive anytime soon. It said that the model number for the Sony Xperia Z3 was the D6603.
On the Sony blog there was also talk about handsets that are going to be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Devices that are going to get updated include the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Sony Z Ultra Google Play are the Xperia Z series smartphones. The Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z2 Tablet, and the recent Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will also get updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
In December last year it was said that only the Sony Z Ultra would get updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, however this has changed now and it includes both the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Z2.
