Last year, Sony revealed to the masses that they will be launching smartphones every 6 months. This actually happened when the Xperia Z3 succeeded the Z2 during the six-month mark. Many thought that the trend is going to continue for the Z4 but it does not look like it at all.
Apparently, the Z4 won’t be coming out until August this year. Sony made this clear earlier today when they revealed that they have adopted a 12-month release cycle and this this decision was made due to the Z3’s sale which isn’t slowing down at all.
On the bright side of things, missing out on an early-year release might give Sony more time to consider on the things they want to introduce in the Z4. So instead of seeing the device coming out to compete with the likes of the HTC One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6, the Z4 will be built to battle with the future Apple iPhone 7.
Then again, consumers and fans of the Xperia badge shouldn’t get high hopes on this as Sony claims that their major focus this year will be on the mid-range category.
