Pixel count on a smartphone’s camera has got itself yet another upgrade. This can be seen on the latest Samsung Galaxy S5, which offers a 16MP shooter. Even Sony equipped its Xperia Z2 with a whopping 20.7MP rear camera.
However, camera is not all about pixel count. As such, we have compared the photography skills of both devices and see which can capture the best pictures out there.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 in particular has a super-fast Phase-Detection AF. However, it is rather sluggish with focusing when in Auto Mode. Similarly, the Sony Xperia Z2 offers a better focus but it is slow in auto-focus when recording videos.
The biggest advantage when snapping with the S5 is the fact that the colours are more contrast than its competitors. However, it fell short of the Z2’s capabilities to offer more detail. This is thanks to the larger pixel count.
All in all, both rear cameras are really great which questions the need for compact cameras. While the S5 was able to offer more, the photos produced looks unnatural. The Sony Xperia Z2 might be the better device but it could have offered more if the manufacturer give the camera a more precise tuning.
