Sony Xperia Phones May Be Blessed With ‘Exclusive’ Android KitKat Features

Sony has given hints about what the Xperia owners should expect when the KitKat 4.4 update comes out along with Android 4.4.2 for the Xperia Z. Other handsets to be updated include the SP, T, TX and the V. Some of the features should be based on the Xperia Sirius and the Z1, it has been said that there could be battery managers, camera modes and two new user interfaces.

When the Sony Sirius interface leaked, it arrived in two types. Owners can choose from the Simple home screen and the Xperia. The leak also showed us that the icons have now changed and there are also new status bar icons along with battery icon.

When Sony introduced Jelly Bean 4.3 owners received Smart Social apps and this brought with it new camera modes along with a new user interface. It is thought that the Sony Xperia Z1, the Ultra X and some other devices in the Z series may have some exclusive camera features and these could have come from the Sirius. These include such as the Timeshift video and Background Shift.

Smart app has now been updated and this means that it has a totally new look to it. One of the new features is the Close All button, which is just one part of the Recent Apps along with Smart Backlight. This works along the same lines as on the Samsung Galaxy handsets. KitKat 4.4.2 also comes with white balance support, smart call handling and double tap to wake up the handset.

On the Xperia Sirius there are new sound options and support for audio accessory along with high resolution audio with USB. Sirius will also get S Force audio, Clear Audio and the xLoud engine.

Owners can enjoy customisation options on the status bar and notification bar and My Xperia themes. Owners who have a handset with Jelly Bean 4.3 cannot apply customisation at the moment with My Xperia Themes.

KitKat is said to offer owners of the handset better power management along with low battery and stamina mode based on Wi-Fi. The background data may be queued and this will help to save the life of the battery.

The Sony Xperia Z should get updated to KitKat at some point this year, while the Xperia SP, T, TX and V could have to wait for some time to come to get their hands on Android 4.3.
