Sony will be looking to wrap up the Android 4.4.4 KitKat quickly for its Xperia devices but unlike its rivals, the Japanese smartphone manufacture will be giving its devices some added functions, on top of those offered by the OS.
The Xperia X, SP, T, TX and V, in particular, will have new functions that are inspired by the Xperia Sirius and the Z1. Among them is a new-looking home screen where the battery and network icons features a new look.
Also, the devices will also get a new Smart Social App together with new camera modes and a redesigned UI. The camera modes that are being added include Background Defocus along with Timeshift video.
As for the Smart App, it will sport a new close-all button which was previously paired to the Recent Apps and Smart Backlight button. This will be coming together with the KitKat’s various functions such as more support for calls along with double tapping to wake and white balance.
The Xperia Sirius, on the other hand will get something different. Sony revealed that they will be adding S Force audio and Clear Audio with the xLoud engine to this device. Also, the Sirius is to get an all-new My Xperia Themes for users to further customize their smartphone.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is the first to get updated to the latest KitKat and soon, the Sony Xperia SP, T, TX and V will all get updated as well.
