Under normal circumstances, owners will not be allowed to remove the keys from the vehicle until the car gear is in Park but some issue with the auto transmission and key interlock connection on the Scion FR-S means that drivers can take out the key even when the key is on in Park.
Scion will now be recalling the Scion FR-S so that they can get the issue fixed. According to the report, some models with the auto transmission might not have the connection to the key interlock. Affected models will be inspected. If the connection is missing, the dealers will connect the key interlock to the auto transmission.
A total of 26,000 units of the Scion FR-S will be affected by the recall. Affected models will be the 2013-2016 Scion FR-S. There was no mention on whether the issue has caused any death or injuries to their customers or not.
The new recall will be starting next month.
