In a matter of weeks from now, Samsung will be launching a new sibling for the latest Galaxy S6 and it will be known as the S6 Plus. The thing everyone cannot comprehend is that the S6 Plus is going to be larger than the original S6 but weaker in terms of performance.
In case you are unaware, the S6 Plus will be powered by the Snapdragon 808 SoC and this is nowhere near as good as the Exynos chipset that powers the latest Galaxy S6. Even so, it is still the most powerful and efficient Snapdragon processors around.
The Galaxy S6 Plus is also going to feature a large screen that measures at either 5.4” or 5.5”. With the Galaxy Note 5 bound to get released later this year, we don’t see the point for Samsung to produce a phablet version of the S6.
In short, there is no way to explain the purpose of the S6 Plus’ existence. The closest possibility is that Samsung is trying to match the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Plus.
