The HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 are two great devices, but which of these two will you buy?
The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes in with a price tag of $581 for the unlocked device, while the HTC One M8 is around $675. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is available with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Virgin, Boost Mobile and Metro PCS. The HTC One M8 is available from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. Both are available for around $199 with contract.
Both of the handsets offer KitKat 4.4 but the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with TouchWiz, while the HTC One M8 has HTC Sense.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5.1 inch display and the HTC One M8 comes with the 5 inch display, so there isn’t much to choose. The former has 432ppi Superb AMOLED and the latter 441ppi Super LCD.
The battery of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is 2,800mAh and this should offer around 29 hours talk time and 290 on standby. The HTC One M8 has the 2,600mAh battery and this gives 20 hours talk time and around 292 hours of standby.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is 8.1mm in thickness and the HTC One M8 9.4mm. The former weighs 145 grams and the later 160 grams. The S5 is dust and water resistant, the M8 isn’t.
The CPU of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is 2.5GHz while that of the HTC One M8 is 2.3GHz. Both devices have four cores and both offer 2,048MB of RAM.
There is a camera of 16MP on the back of the Samsung Galaxy S5, while the HTC One M8 comes in with a camera of 4MP. The S5 also offers a camera of 2.1MP and the M8 a 5MP. The Samsung Galaxy S5 can record in 4k while the M8 records in 1080p.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8 offers 16GB of internal storage and can take an SD card up to 128GB.
They are pretty well matched and both are relatively new handsets. The camera lets the HTC One M8 down a little, but the most suitable is what you want from a handset.
