Anyone on the lookout for the Samsung Galaxy S5 over in Australia will be pleased to hear that pre-orders are being taken in Europe and Australia before the official release date of 11 April.
Four Australian carriers have confirmed that they will carry the Samsung Galaxy S5, they are Virgin, Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. However there has been some indication that the price tag of the handset may not come in a cheap as was expected by some people. MobiCity have said that the Samsung Galaxy S5 could have a price tag of around $899.95 plus delivery.
Over in Europe Clove are the exporter and the price tag is $485.33 plus delivery, for those wanting the black or white version of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The fingerprint sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S5 may be much more than just a gimmick to unlock the handset, it could be used as a way of getting through 3rd party apps as opposed to having to remember and type many passwords.
GSM Arena said that developers were looking into ways of using the scanner, this starts with the Pass API released as the developer kit for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
PayPal have made use of the fingerprint scanner and they allow payments to be confirmed with the new features of the Samsung Galaxy S5. This is open API and therefore other app makers can use the feature. The fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5S from Apple only uses the apps of Apple.
The full specs of the Samsung Galaxy S5 are now known and one thing that had been greatly hyped before the announcement was the 64 bit processor, which is missing.
Just about every source online said that Samsung could include the 64 bit processing power in the Samsung Galaxy S5 or be shown off at the event.
However the 64 bit processor may still be revealed this year as there is a demand for it on the market said the VP of marketing for LSI business for Samsung. Samsung will therefore be working on a prototype.
This will not come as a surprise as Apple, their largest competitor have the 64 bit ARMv8 processor on the iPhone 5S. Qualcomm, Intel and Nvidia also have their 64 bit processors.
However until Android OS gets support for 64 bit, Samsung may be keeping theirs under wraps.
