Getting a high-end smartphone today can really cut a hole in consumers’ wallet. As such, more and more individuals are resulting to past high-end devices. Today, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5S are still two of the bestselling smartphones around but which is the better buy?
The Samsung Galaxy S4 was touted as something revolutionary as it offers a 4.99” Super AMOLED display that produces 441ppi and can be controlled without touching. The iPhone 5S has a 4” Retina LCD that produces 326ppi.
In terms of processors, both device operates on their respective house brand. The S4 runs on a 1.6GHz Exynos 5 processor with 2GB RAM and a 3-core GPU. The 5S runs on the 1.3GHz Apple A7 processor with 1GB RAM and a standard GPU. Obviously, the S4 is the faster device but the iPhone 5S is the smoother of the two.
Where cameras are concerned, the S4 has a 13MP rear shooter and 2MP front camera. Based on pixel count, these are far better than the 8MP rear camera and 1.2MP front shooter on the 5S.
All in all, these basic stats reveal that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the better device. The S4 might appeal to tech geeks but it is the iPhone 5S that operates better thanks to the iOS 7.1.1. Then again, the S4 cost $419 which is much cheaper than the $550 on the iPhone 5S.
