Apple had released their latest addition of the iPhone series, the iPhone 5S. As soon as the iPhone 5S hit the market, it became really popular. Well, it was already popular even before it was released. Anyway, the iPhone 5S had to compete with Apple’s long time rival’s flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4.
If you look into the performance, the iPhone 5S sports Apple’s latest A7 processor which would be the first 64 bit smartphone processor. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S4 proudly presents 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset. Despite the difference in the number of bit, both processors perform equally good.
The iPhone 5S had the same display as the iPhone 5, a 4 inches IPS LCD Retina display. It projects 325ppi pixel density. However, this is just not good enough compared to Samsung Galaxy S4’s 5inches Super AMOLED display that has 441ppi pixel density. But the let down of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the fact that it’s body was made from plastic. It just feels and look, well, cheap. The iPhone 5S however, has a Aluminium unibody that gives the iPhone 5S a very premium look and it feels really solid too. Despite the Samsung Galaxy S4’s curvy design which makes it a lot more comfortable to hold, the iPhone 5S wins.
On battery life, the Samsung Galaxy S4’s larger battery capacity was just not enough to make it last longer than the iPhone 5S. Both smartphones was put to a test where videos were played in loop on auto brightness until the smartphones’ battery finally dies.
Both smartphones provided an extremely good competition. However, it seems like the iPhone 5S performs better. Still, choosing which smartphones to buy would mount to personal needs and preference.
