At the moment owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 are waiting to hear about the KitKat 4.4 update, which must surely be making its way to the flagship handset. Google launched KitKat 4.4 in September but not a lot was said about it.
Nexus handset started to get KitKat 4.4 in November and then people assumed it would start to roll out for other handsets. It has started its journey onto the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but still no word about it making its way onto the Samsung Galaxy S4 at the moment.
There was talk that the KitKat 4.4 version which was heading to the Samsung Galaxy S4 would just be the same as the version for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. However now it is looking as though this may not be so. We have heard from the French carrier SFR, they said the rollout would happen in January or February. Meanwhile SamMobile said it would be February or March. They also said that they had heard KitKat 4.4 was being tested on the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Owners may want to keep checking the status of the KitKat 4.4 update as it could them an indication as to when it may arrive on Samsung Galaxy S4.
We know that in the past Samsung have been slow at pushing out updates. Right now it is coming out in Poland, so it should arrive for the rest of the world soon. Those with locked handsets have to rely on the carriers of course and so it may be some time yet.
Samsung don’t usually make announcements about updating, they didn’t with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, so we can expect the same to happen this time around.
