The Samsung Galaxy S3 users will have to find a new smartphone if the KitKat update coming to this old device gets cancelled. This is due to the many bugs in the phone’s 4.3 Jellybean OS that desperately needs some fixing.
We have compiled the list of major issues with the Galaxy S3 and they are as follow:
1. A handful of S3 users found their device being unable to detect or read their SIM card.
2. The famous Swift Keys. Every time users pull down the notification bar, it will automatically prompt Select Input Method for the keyboard and there is no way to rid of it.
3. The SD card keeps on unmounting at random.
4. The S3 is often not on a network when attempting to make a call.
5. The internet browser constantly crashing.
These are the few of many issues that is on the Galaxy S3. While the KitKat is walking on thin rope towards the S3, users can try the following remedies for the above issues. They are listed in the same order.
1. Take out the battery while the S3 is active. After that, press the power button for a minute to clear off all electricity. Put the battery back and try again. If it fails to work, try getting a replacement SIM.
2. The S3 will have to be rooted and any pre-installed keyboards, together with Google Voice Typing, will have to be disabled.
3. Basically, the SD card will have to be replaced.
4. It could be with the change in IMEI number which is not recognized by the SIM. As such, install a stock firmware with Odin to fix this.
5. Best is to install a third party internet browser.
Just from the issues above, it is important for the Galaxy S3 to get fixed immediately. Samsung will make a huge mistake to cancel out the KitKat for the Galaxy S3.
