Samsung Galaxy S3 Bugs Will Never Go Away If Android 4.4 KitKat Is Not Coming

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have had to put up with numerous bugs and issues since the Android 4.3 update arrived for their handset. This left owners hoping that KitKat 4.4 would be on its way and that this would resolve the bugs and issues. If it should get cancelled then owners could be stuck with the issues forever.

Some owners complained about the handset failing to recognise their SIM card when the handset was updated. Owners have tried to take the SIM card out of the device and out it back in again in the hope that the issue would be fixed.

If you are having this issue you could try to take out the battery while the device is switched on and then leave it for a minute or two while holding the power button down. Put the battery back into the handset and switch it back on. If your SIM card still doesn’t work then you need to get a new SIM card.

SwiftKey has been causing problems for some people. When they scroll down on the notification bar the keyboard icon is always saying Select Input Method and you cannot get rid of it. This has nothing to do with SwiftKey as the icon is put there by Android. Anyone who wants to get rid of it will need to root the device and uninstall keyboards that were pre-installed, apart from SwiftKey of course. You will also have to disable Google Voice Typing and then the icon will have disappeared.

One user wanted to know how to connect the Samsung Galaxy S3 to a TV set in order for them to be able to watch videos.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 does have a different configuration and it cannot be used with an MHL cable that is 3rd party. This means that you will need an HDTV adapter to use the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Users have said that they have had issues with the SD card not being recognised. This can cause the battery to drain down as the handset is continually detecting the SD card and will keep scanning it if it keeps mounting and un-mounting.

Some people have said that the handset continually scans Clean Master.apk. Then a message box will appear which says that there is another issue parsing the package, which means that owners have to click the OK button. Then more boxes pop up even if cancel is pressed and it continues to scan.

If you are seeing this problem you will need to uninstall the app and choose something similar.

When trying to make a call some people say that the phone says it’s not registered to the network. This means that if you get a call it will go to the voice mail. When they put a different SIM into the phone it works ok.

This could be down to the service provider and it can happen if you have rooted your handset and installed a custom ROM. Often the issue can be fixed by installing stock firmware using ODIN.

Owners can also try to update again as it may be that a recent update didn’t complete. It could also be an issue with the serial number and the IMEI number having changed so the network doesn’t recognise it. If you reinstall the firmware, this can help.

Some users have said that the internet stops when they are using the internet app or one that is related to it.

This is an issue with the app, the original browser of the handset. You can try the following.

From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
Touch Settings and then Application Manager.
Tap left or right to display contents of the All tab.
Make sure not a single app is labeled ‘Disabled’ unless, of course, you disabled it on purpose and are pretty sure it has nothing to do with this problem.
After that, scroll to and tap the Internet app.
Tap the Force Close button first.
Then tap the Clear Cache button.
Lastly, tap the Clear Data button. (Please note you will lose your bookmarks and browsing history when you do this).
Tap OK to confirm.
Launch Internet again and see if you’re still getting the same error message.
If so, try wiping the cache partition. If this doesn’t help and you don’t want to perform a Factory Reset, the workaround is to use other browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Some owners have complained that when they try to connect to Wi-Fi it says that the network connection has been terminated as the internet connection is too slow. This doesn’t seem to be a common issue but you could try the following.

From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
Tap Settings.
Tap the Connections tab.
If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
Tap Wi-Fi.
Tap the Menu key, then choose Advanced Settings.
Un-check ‘Auto network switch’ option.
Now try to connect to your network.
The handset sometimes goes into safe mode and apps disappear.
The answer to this issue lies below.
With your phone still on, open the back panel and remove the battery. That’s what you call power-shocking and it often helps.
Without the battery removed, press and hold the Power button of your phone for about 30 seconds. This will discharge stored electricity in the components.
Place the battery back, then close the back panel.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power button but continue holding the other two until Android System Recovery screen appears.
Use the Volume Down button to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and press the Power button to select it.
The phone will reboot automatically after the cache partition was wiped out. Otherwise, highlight ‘reboot system now’ and press the Power button to initiate reboot.
After updating the Samsung Galaxy S3 one owner said that they got messages along the lines of “Unfortunately Calendar Storage has failed”. They also reported the device being sluggish and factory resetting it. However another error message then appeared which said “Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped working.”
The answer to this problem is:
Boot to recovery mode.
Wipe cache partition.
Boot to normal mode.
Browse your Contacts (in my case I went to Application Manager).
If the problem still persists, it means the firmware that’s currently running on your phone either lacks some files or corrupt.
You need to download the firmware to your computer because you will be re-flashing it to your phone using ODIN.

It has been said that the handset can lose the phone and contacts app icon and the device says to insert SIM card to access network services.

Owners can reboot the device after they have updated and it may take several boots to get the app icons back. You can check to make sure that the SIM is fitted properly and reboot. If this fails you will have to factory reset the device in recovery mode. This will bring the app icons back. If it doesn’t then you will need to download the firmware again and re-flash with the ODIN tool.
