In France the French carrier SFR has posted the schedule release dates for the Android 4.3 update. They also gave confirmation about the rumors concerning the release date for the Android 4.3 updates for the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the HTC One. The update for Android 4.3 supports Bluetooth LE which is required when being compatible with Samsung’s smart watch, the Galaxy Gear.
As Android is a lot more open than iOS this means that the updates have to go through different levels of testing, Google to OEMs and after that the networks. As the network update plans is the last stage of the update testing levels, this tends to be the most accurate.
SFR did confirm that the update would be push out OTA and that it would be available for Samsung KIES for the Samsung Galaxy devices. However the owners of the older Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 devices will need need to wait around until November until they are able to get the update.
Owners of Samsung Galaxy handsets in Canada will probably get the update before the year has ended. MobileSyrup announced that the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Note 2 would all receive the update at the same time in November. Nothing has yet been confirmed about when the Galaxy S4 Active, S4 Zoom or S4 Mini would be getting the update.
