Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Is Now Here With Custom ROM

When Samsung Galaxy S3 owners found that they would not be getting updates anymore for their handset, they weren’t all that pleased. What has made things even worse is the fact that not all the issues and bugs that came with the Samsung Galaxy S3 have been fixed.

Those with the Samsung Galaxy S2 however had some good news from CyanogenMOD. Owners will be able to get hold of Android KitKat 4.4. So if you have the GT-i9100 model you can get KitKat installed on your handset by checking out the steps below.

However before you go ahead and undertake the installation you should check that you have the right model device and you have the correct USB drivers installed on your handset. It goes without saying that you should back up the device and you do need 50% or more battery life on it and have USB debugging enabled. Install ClockworkMod on the handset and then CyanogenMod 11 along with Google Apps package onto the computer. Then check the following:
1. Connect the device to the computer via USB
2. Copy the CyanogenMod 11 and Google Apps packages into the SD card. Do Not Extract.
3. Unplug the device and turn it off.
4. Enter recovery mode by Holding down the volume up +power +home at the same time.
5. Once inside, backup the ROM
6. Next, select “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition.” Then choose “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”
7. Go back to the main menu and install CyanogenMod 11 by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD > cyanogenMod 11 / Google Apps> confirm installation.
8. Once done, go back and select reboot system. This process will take up to 5 minutes.

Your handset should not have the latest version of Android on it.
