Sony might be the father of waterproof smartphones. While such a feature is often overlooked, other phone vendors are looking to venture into the waterproof market. Samsung is no different.
The Korean-based company wants to enhance their future smartphones by making them waterproof. Such a move is to appeal a much wider audience.
Samsung was spotted to have cancelled an order for 5 million LDS antennas due to the difficulty to waterproof them. Instead of using the Laser Direct Structuring antennas which offers superb reception, the company has opted for the H-IMA antennas.
This High Performance In-Mold Antennas might not have a reception as great as those on the LDS but it is already well-coated which simplifies the waterproof development.
The waterproof direction is the future which Samsung wish to follow. Fans who are hoping for the feature to be with the Galaxy S5 should not get their hopes up. The waterproof movement is very new and is probably too late for the upcoming S5.
The best that fans can hope for is with the Galaxy Note 4. The Note 4 is expected to arrive later this year and there should be enough time for Samsung to give it that waterproof feature. If not, then we may as well see it coming in the Galaxy S6 next year.
