Most consumers today got their smartphone from a carrier due to its subsidized price. The downside to this is that the device will be carrier-locked, which will badly hurt its resale value.
Today, Samsung users don’t have to worry about trading in their devices as they can now unlock their device for free. A set of unlock codes for the Samsung Galaxy devices have been leaked online and it will remove the carrier-locked status for good.
If you are using a carrier-locked Samsung Galaxy smartphone, then here’s how you can unlock it.
1: Put a new SIM card into your Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S4.
2: Switch off your handset and then switch it back on again.
3: Navigate over to the dialpad and input *#197328640#.
4: Select [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3] Perso SHA256 OFF.
5: After about half a minute, return to the main menu by selecting “back”.
6: Once in the main menu you should spot “Network Lock”, then select [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ
By now, your device should be unlocked. Then again, there is still no certainty on whether the codes will work on every Samsung devices. Nevertheless, it doesn’t hurt to give it a shot.
