The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is now available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. However, this is not the official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update released by Samsung by the carriers. This update is is a custom Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM. This custom ROM is compatible with only the international version of the Galaxy Note 2 smartphone.
Before you install this custom ROM into your Samsung Galaxy Note 2, check if you fulfill these requirements;
• Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has to be rooted.
• ClockWorkMod is installed on your Note 2
• At least 70% of your battery charge is still available.
• USB debugging is enabled on your Note 2.
• USB drivers for your Note 2 is installed on your computer.
• You have downloaded the custom ROM and the Google Apps package.
If you have fulfilled the pre-requisite above, follow the steps below to make the update.
1. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to your computer using USB cable.
2. Copy the Custom ROM and Google Apps package into the root folder of your Note 2 SD card (download links at bottom).
3. Disconnect the USB cable and reboot your Note 2 into CWM Recovery mode (Press & hold Volume up, volume down & power keys simultaneously after you had switched off the Note 2)
4. Create and Android backup for your current ROM just in case you need to restore it later (Backup and Restore – Backup)
5. Perform Wipe data/Factory reset and wipe cache partition
6. When done, go to Advanced and then do the wipe Dalvik cache.
7. Go back to the main menu. Select “Install zip from SD card”. Find and select the custom ROM you had copied earlier.
8. Repeat step 7 but this time, select the Google Apps package file instead.
9. After your are done, go to the main menu as select “Reboot system now”
The first reboot after the ROM installation would take longer than usual. This is normal, so don’t worry and just wait patiently. Once your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has rebooted, it should now be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
