Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2.2 from a Custom ROM

If you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, this is a good news for you. You can now upgrade you Android OS from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using a custom ROM. This custom ROM is compatible with the international version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 only.

Before you can install the custom ROM, you first have to root your Note 2 and make sure that your battery still has at least 70% power left as if you ran out of battery during the installation; it will damage your phone. And then you need to enable the USB debugging mode and installed ClockWorkMod on you Note 2. Install the Note 2 USB drivers on your computer and download the ROM and Google App package. After you have downloaded the ROM and the Google App package, follow the steps outlined below to make the update.

1. Connect your Note 2 to your computer and copy the ROM and the Google App package you downloaded earlier into the SD card of the Note 2.
2. Reboot your Note 2 into Recovery Mode (press and hold the Volume up + Volume down + Power keys after the Note 2 had turned off)
3. Make an Android backup of the current ROM in case you need to restore it later. Choose “backup and restore > backup.
4. At the main menu, choose “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition.” When that is done, go back and choose “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”
5. Return to the main menu and choose “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card.” Select the custom ROM zip file you have copied on your Galaxy Note and confirm installation.
6. Repeat the previous step but this time, choose the Google Apps package instead.
7. Return to the main menu and choose Reboot System Now once the installation is completed.
The first boot would take longer than normal. Don’t worry and just wait patiently. Once your Note 2 had boot up, it should now run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
