We have heard that there is a new Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 coming our way and it seems that there is also a version heading to mobile devices. However not everyone is happy about it.
In today’s mobile market there are plenty of free to play games on the market and NowGamer pointed out that Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 is going to have a hard job on if it is to contend with them.
Atari did say that a version was making its way to the PC and the game could be great.
The CEO of Atari, Frederic Chesnais said “I’ve been working on it for more than a year,” “so we kept working on the mobile game – but the point is not the mobile game, the point is that we have a PC game in production.
“Let me try to put it as clearly as possible, and this is something that we’re going to post at some point on the Facebook page, what we are seeing with the PC game is that players are passionate about it.
“We’re going to start engaging with the community really quickly, right now.”
Chesnais joined Atari in 2000 and he was with the company when they launched Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. He pointed out that there are many dedicated gamers who still like to play the game.
Chesnais went on to say that “It’s going to be very difficult because as you know – and I know maybe more than you do – when you tell people ‘hey what would you like?’ and you have thousands of answers and they are never compatible.
“But the point is we have the PC game in development and we’re going to reengage with the community in the next few months.”
But that doesn’t mean the mobile game should be a write-off. “In the meantime we have a mobile game – which is also a nice way for us to be back, with some social and mobile features like visiting your friend’s parks, inviting friends and, you know, we’re going to learn as well.”
Nowgamer said that the mobile game is going to be something of a stopgap, more like the rebirth of the franchise and the franchise does deserve a game on the PC. This is something Chesnais knows, but which is going to be slower progress.
The mobile version of the game should act as a test for ideas, one is including vanity items which could be redeemed.
Chesnais said people could pre-register on the website and by inviting friends they could get access to items that are unique.
On5 will develop the mobile version of the game, but someone different will be behind the version that comes out on the PC. Who is going to be behind it isn’t known as Chesnais said that they were working on a big announcement.
According to NowGamer you will be able to give gifts out to friends, go to stay at their park and gain access to a leader board. He also said that this is a feature that would fit in well into Rollercoaster Tycoon 4, for now we don’t know if Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 will be more along the lines of the original or the 3D version.
We shouldn’t have too much longer to wait to find out. At the moment feedback is being taken on the Rollercoaster Tycoon Facebook page, Atari said that they were getting a great deal of feedback.
