Capcom has already confirmed that Resident Evil 7 is in production but fans of the series are not thrilled by the announcement at all. It seems that the Resident Evil community are still sulking over how poor the last Resident Evil trilogy has been.
Well, fans should start burying the hatchet as Resident Evil 7 is finally going to give them what they want. This is confirmed by a leak screenshot of the future title which shows Resident Evil 7 to be a remake of the franchise first trilogy.
Back then, everything about Resident Evil translates to horror. Ever since Resident Evil 4 was introduced, the series has shifted away from horror to become a third person shooter. Fans are not happy with the genre shift and have been calling for horror to return ever since.
If the leak is spot on, then the fans cries are finally heard. The remake of the first trilogy will no doubt restore the gruesome horror in the series and this is something fans should look forward to.
On a final note, the leak screenshot also suggest that Resident Evil 7 will be known as Resident Evil Zero. Of course, this won’t matter much as what is important is for the game to be horrifying at best.
