Resident Evil 6 has been nothing but disappointing ever since it got released. It is well clear that the fans do not want an action/adventure game which has shaped the Resident Evil franchise since Resident Evil 4.
The fans want to see Resident Evil restored to its old ways. In other words, Capcom has to bring back the thrill/horror genre to the next sequel like how it was with the Resident Evil trilogy. Resident Evil 7 is already in development and Capcom better act fast and change the direction the series is going or risk losing the fans.
One element that should feature in Resident Evil 7 is a suspenseful music that will disorient the player’s mentality. A disturbingly horrifying sound will put the players into a lot of stress.
In addition to that, Capcom could consider making enemies scarier by allowing them to break down any door other than the safe room, which should be returned as well. Also, merchants should be part of Resident Evil again.
As for the Don’ts, Capcom should discard forcing multiplayer as it kills the horror. If the game developer really sees a need for multiplayer, the very least they could do is giving a weak partner which will be more of a burden than helpful.
With all that in mind, there is a strong chance for Capcom to deliver the fans need. After all, the strong support from the Resident Evil community is at stake.
