There have long been speculations that Porsche is thinking about releasing a fuel efficient plug-in hybrid version of their popular Porsche 911 and after all the leaks and rumor, Porsche is finally willing to admit that they are indeed working on a Porsche 911 Plug-in hybrid model.
According to Autocar, Erhard Mossle, the engineering boss of the 911 Turbo admitted that works on the 911 Hybrid model in also underworks but he also added that it will take some time before we can actually see the model in the showroom as they still have a lot of issues to work, though.
One of the issues was the space. He mentions that finding a place to out the huge battery pack is going to be a problem. There is also the electric motor to think about. With all the new addition, the Porsche 911 will also gain weight and that will lead to more issues for them to work on.
It is believed that the Porsche 911 Hybrid model will only be coming in 2020
