Pokemon X & Y US Sales Exceed Japan Yet Pokebank Release Priorities Feel Reversed

One of the best games ever got released is the Pokemon X & Y. The latest adventure game from the Pokemon franchise is so popular that it recorded 11.6 million units sold worldwide at the end of last year.

This is based on Nintendo’s Consolidated Financial Highlights for the year 2013. On this PDF sheet, players will notice many impressive figures. This could be due to a huge percentage of the Pokemon population purchasing both the X & Y instead of settling on one of them. This can be seen if you compared the Nintendo 3DS sales record with the X & Y.

Just from this statistics, it is obvious that the Pokemon franchise boasts a huge fan-base despite its age. For a simple game like Pokemon, it is able to rival the likes of FIFA, Call of Duty and even GTA. There is no telling on how much further the Pokemon franchise can go before it starts to lose popularity.

Nevertheless, this is definitely a victory for Nintendo. Fans who took a closer look at the financial report should be able to see that majority of the games are sold in North America with 86.27 million units sold. This is a huge gap when compared to 69.23 units sold in Japan.

Having revealed that, it is a wonder to why Nintendo still opted to release the Pokebank in Japan first when most of their fans are in North America. It could be due to patriotism as shareholders wouldn’t be able to understand the logic behind it.
