Pokemon X & Y Tips & Tricks: The “Shining”

In Pokemon X and Y the ultimate goal seems to be to catch the shiny Pokemon and it has been said that the rate you encounter them has been adjusted. Geek said that this would make it easier to get hold of one. It could even be as easy as pressing just one button.

You can boost your chances of getting hold of a shiny Pokemon if you tip an NPC $100, $500 or $1000. Geek said that they found a shiny Oddish Pokemon after tipping a photographer who was wandering around outside the Parfum Palace. They said that they didn’t encounter one after this.

You could try the Masuda method; this was named after the Game Freak producer, Junichi Masuda. You will have to breed two Pokemon that are from different geographical regions. The egg will stand to be a much better chance of being a shiny Pokemon. However bear in mind that you do have to get your egg to hatch out.

Poke Radar chaining seems to work for some people and this has made a comeback in Pokemon X and Y. You can get the Poke Radar from the 2nd floor office of the lab of Professor Sycamore once you have fought the Elite Four. You can then chain Pokemon and find a shiny one hidden in the grass. You will have to activate the Poke Radar and meet up with the same Pokemon and create a chain, this then boosts the chances of you coming across a shiny Pokemon. You will need to watch the way that the grass moves and then walk onto grass that moves in the same way. Repel any wild Pokemon as they will break your chain. This may seem to be a tedious way of doing things, but it is a reliable way to find shiny Pokemon.
