Pokemons earn experience when they are traded. A way for you to boost up your Pokemon’s experience is to trade it with your friend. Traded Pokemon is called Outside Pokemon and will earn 1.5 times more experience when compared with the ones you had caught yourselves. Trading Pokemon with someone from a different country would get you a Pokemon that gets 1.7 times more experience than normal. This way, your Pokemon will level up faster.
To increase your chance to catch the Shiny Pokemon, you can use the Pokeradar which will be obtained when you finished a game. The Pokeradar will increase your chance to get a Pokemon by 1/200. The Masuda will give you 1/1356 chance of hatching a Shiny Pokemon but the parents need to be caught in different countries. Another way for you to catch a Shiny Pokemon is by repeatedly fish for Pokemons at the same spot.
There is a virus called the Pokerus which would infect your Pokemon and make it stronger. This virus is carried by a wild Pokemon and your chances of encountering a wild Pokemon with the virus is 1/21,845. The infected Pokemon would earn more EV and the infection would be permanent. However, the infection would not spread with other Pokemon in your party.
