Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) announced a reminder about the nationwide recall of faulty front passenger Takata airbag inflator modules that a total of 12,444 units of the T30 Nissan X-Trail CKD, J31 Nissan Teana CBU and M12 Nissan Liberty CBU models have been affected with. The local Nissan distributor is hoping to make it clear to owners that it is important to have their vehicles checked out at the closest Tan Chong Express Auto Service Centre (TCEAS) outlet.
12,420 units of the before mentioned T30 X-Trail CKD developed between May 1 2002 to March 2007 are included in the breakdown as well as four units of the J31 Nissan Teana CBU built between August 2004 to September 2004. A total of 20 units of the M12 Nissan Liberty CBU made in 2003 are affected as well.
ETCM will notify customers to bring in their relevant cars to replace the faulty airbag inflator, however as ownership may have changed over the years, a number of current owners might have to figure out themselves if their vehicles have been affected. Also, due to a system reclassification, people who have had the status of their vehicles looked at before will have to validate thir cars again.
Anyone who may have any queries is asked to contact ETCM through its toll-free hotline, 1800 88 3838, or head over to www.nissan.com.my (listed under the “Owners” tab in the “Service Campaign” section) for further details.
