Nissan recently announced that it will be opening a second production plant in Thailand today and it will be the manufacturing centre for the upcoming NP300 Navara. Also known as the Frontier, the Navara will be shipped to 45 different countries worldwide when it gets released.
Nissan paid a total of THB3.7million for the 580,000 square meter facility. The Japanese carmaker returned the favour to Thailand by creating 2000 new jobs for the locals. The centre has a target of 150,000 vehicles per year, which will double the number of Nissan vehicles produced in the South-East Asia Nation.
Nissan’s executive Vice President, Fumiaki Matsumoto, revealed that the new plant signifies the company’s optimism for Thailand, as a growing automotive market, a center of manufacturing excellence for the region and an export hub for the world.
The Nissan Navara will commence production in July 1 before going into the showrooms on July 3. The vehicle will come in two variants, King Cab and Double Cab. They are priced at $17,760 and $20,262 respectively. However, the Thai market will get the Navara only in September.
