The retina display isn’t a new technology from Apple but it has finally arrived on this year’s iMac. With the retina iMac, consumers can get to enjoy high-resolution display on the machine. Also, the retina iMac retails at only $2499, which is a whopping $500 cheaper than the Apple Mac Pro.
Then again, there are some flaws with the retina iMac that can leave consumers seeking other desktops from Apple. For starters, the retina iMac does not support external display. This means that consumers cannot cast the retina iMac screen on any other device. The normal iMacs, on the other hand, comes with DisplayPort 1.3 support.
Furthermore, the retina iMac, just like every other iMac, is built with the computer glued together to make one single component. In other words, if anything is to spoil on the retina iMac, consumers will have to get the whole component replaced. The other iMacs might cost under the $2000 mark but it does not expel them from the above issues.
With that being said, it seems that the Apple iMac with retina display seems to be more of a curse than a blessing. It might look good now but in the long run, the retina technology is more restrictive than beneficial.
