Many spy shots of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner have already been seen and we are now being treated with the reveal of the 7 seated SUV in Thailand and Australia. The car has been based around the new Hilux pickup and we predict that it will become available to dealerships in Australia by the end of October.
The 2016 Toyota Fortuner claims to be tough vehicle and offers genuine 4WD. The SUV is making its way to Australia in the form of GX, GXL and the Crusade and these versions will all offer the 2.8 litre four-cylinder, direct injection turbo diesel engine which will be able to give 175hp and 450Nm of torque.
The engine of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner is believed to be either the six speed manual version of six speed automatic which both offer trailer sway control. This technology will come in handy when towing in crosswinds and also when performing sharp turns. The manual as a towing capacity of 3 tonnes and it’s 2.8 tonnes for the automatic version.
The 2016 Toyota Fortuner is a two wheel drive, but the easy rotation of the dial transforms it into a four wheel drive and offers high or low range. What it is capable of doing off road has also been increased by the rear differential lock. The car’s suspension has been created specifically for Australia’s rough conditions and includes a double wishbone at the front and coils spring five link config at the back. You can disable the electronics for off the road situations such as driving in mud and on sand.
Tthe 2016 Toyota Fortuner will come with plenty of standard features and we can expect to see a reversing camera, air-conditioning in the front and back, 7 airbags, hill start assistace control and touchscreen udio displays. The car will apparantly also come with roof rails, fog lamps, downhill assistance control, keyless entry and have power back door as well as 18 inch heels with tyres for when driving on the highway.
