The Paris Motor Show will be happening in a couple of days’ time but Mitsubishi can’t hold their excitement any longer and decided to release two images of the upcoming Outlander PHEV Concept S.
Instead of being a totally new vehicle, the PHEV Concept S is nothing more than a new design package that is built for the same SUV. When viewing the image, one can easily notice that the front-grille is now X-shaped and there are no lines separating the side fenders from the bumper.
Things got more exciting when we looked at the Outlander’s interior. The Concept comes with a nice a combination of black and burgundy for its interior and it gives off that luxurious feel. The centre console now comes with black woodgrain trims with silver accents making up the compartment borders. The seats are all wrapped in leather and it designed with horizontal ribs.
The Outlander PHEV, as we know it, will still be powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder DOHC MIVEC engine that will primarily be used to charge the 12kWh lithium ion battery. After all, the SUV is built as an EV vehicle that drives on the 4WD system.
In short, the Outlander PHEV Concept S is truly something spectacular and it shows Mitsubishi’s intent to make a comeback in the automotive industry. As such, we can expect the Concept S to inspire future Mitsubishi SUVs like the Montero and Pajero.
