Microsoft is testing a free trial version of Windows 8.1 which comes bundled with Bling search engine. This idea came about from the search engine Windows with Bling and is the typical Windows with built in search.
There are some differences between the free version and Windows 8.1, which suggests that this could be a placeholder and the consumer OS may be free in the future.
At the moment nothing is being said by Microsoft, so we have no idea if it means the move is towards free software or a free update for those using Windows or new to Windows.
It is thought that Windows 8 in the final version will arrive at some point in October and with it could come some functions that were missed in Windows 8, along with the highlighting the goal of Microsoft of advancements in mobile, always connected and touch enabled computing.
As is the case with any software users have to get to know it in order to be able to get the most from it. Fans of Windows haven’t been pleased with the new UI. Microsoft did create a fix leaked earlier on in the year and details are said to include power and search buttons, which are additions to the Start screen, the UI, mouse and keyboard functions have also received a boost.
Microsoft retired CEO Steve Ballimer said that they would not abandon the Start menu and that is was slowly attracting developers of apps to Windows 8. The Start button will allow for booting straight to the desktop is to come back.
The Corporate Vice President Joe Belfiore had said that updates would come out around 2 April.
