Microsoft proudly announces its new tablet-slash-portable laptop, Microsoft Pro 4, after the success of the 2014 Microsoft Surface Pro 3. The first notable upgrade for this latest model is the 12.3-inch display, supporting a 2,736 x 1,824 resolution. It might not seem much since the 2014 model came with a 12-inch screen, but a slight difference is still appreciated.
On top of that, the devices have equal width, which is 3:2 aspect ratio from the previous model. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is lighter and thinner than the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, but they have similar port placement and wireless capacities. They also have similar connectivity, a 3.0 USB port, MiniDisplayPort, SD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0 and 866Mbps, and port for the Type Cover.
Even though the Type Cover keyboard is not equivalent with a desktop keyboard, is still good enough. The keys are wider, reminiscent of Chiclet-style keyboards from the Ultrabook and the MacBook Air. However, the Type Cover must be bought separately with an additional cost of $130.
Tempting, right? A standard Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is priced at $899 and comes with an Intel Core m3, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, pen but without the Type Cover. Users who wish for more power can go for the more dynamic Intel Core i5 version for $999, which includes 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM.
